The community village called ‘Aratta’ was created in 2006 in an existing village. In 2014, a permaculture educational center was founded here. The settlement consists of separate community homesteads that take part in local governance. The founders are starting to set up educational and medical infrastructure, a local green business (eco farming) and green tourism (eco hotel). They try to cooperate with other community centers, organize seminars, festivals, and conversational events.

Many eco technologies are used in Aratta such as mulching, companion planting, windbreaks, forest gardens, smart gardening, and biodynamics; sustainable livestock farming, energy planting, growing mushrooms and alley farming, aquaculture, aquaponics, use of hedge and sustainable forest planting, crafts, and sun vegetarium; adobe brick and straw bag building, energy efficient housing, sustainable heating, alternative energy, permaculture pond, collecting rainwater, eco toilet, solidarity farming, local goods exchange and loan services.
