Settlement description:
Berehynia settlement was founded in 2007 by the family of Maria Pakholok. The family grows herbs and spices and runs the School of long life. The center occupies 4 hectares with a lake, a forest garden, a smart garden, Antonivka apple trees and other garden plants, wood and carving workshops.
The settlement is home to a family of 5.
Berehynia as an educational center
The settlement describes itself as an Educational center in permaculture design and long life. It offers workshops in smart gardening, tree planting and agrostology.
The elements and methods of housing used in Berehynia include mulching, companion planting, windbreakers, forest gardening, smart gardening, spiral garden beds, tractor pulled by animals, energy planting, growing mushrooms, agro foresting and alley farming, natural farming (by Masanova Fukuoka), aquaculture, crafts, collecting rainwater.
Visitors are accepted upon request. A sightseeing tour is available on open days. Volunteers are accepted in the warm part of the year with their own tents. There is also an opportunity to live together with the founders in their house. Guests are welcome to cook on their own with the products provided by the hosts. All volunteers can learn sustainable farming.
