Bilochi ethnic farmstead
Year of foundation: 2010
Current members: 2 adults and 3 kids
Settlement description:
The farmstead was founded by Skoryk family in 2010 in Hrabovo village (in Kodymsky district of Odeska region). Bilochi is a place where sustainable housing meets our ancestors’ traditional way of living. The project started from the complete reconstruction of an old manor house, incorporating contemporary design elements and permaculture. Now, it is a ‘craft’ eco-friendly farmstead, which is home to 2 adults and 3 children. It consists of 6 buildings on 4 hectares of land: 2 residential buildings, 2 eco hotels, and 2 eco farmhouses.
Traditional crafts and way of living have also been brought to life at the farmstead, particularly through the festivals of ethnic culture. Since 2014, the farmstead has been producing natural yoghurt and cheeses.
Many sustainable technologies are used in Bilochi, such as permaculture, mulching, drip watering, composting, sustainable construction, educational workshops about the local community traditions and culture.
The family welcomes visitors like volunteers and tourists upon preliminary request.
