Settlement description:

Community of family estates Charivne was founded in 2010 by three families with the aim of living common life with a nature, finding the spiritual path, making own special eco-space, creating a new style of relationship between people.

Community of family estates was founded in Cherkassy region, Chygyryn area, in the village Chmyrivka, near riverbed, among the picturesque hills and gills, surrounded by beautiful forest. We also have some lakes here.

The nearest regional centre Chygyryn is 25 km away and only 50 km to the administrative centre of Cherkassy region - Cherkassy.

At the present moment 13 families with 18 children permanently live in our eco-village.

11 families have been living here for more than 2 years.

6 children were born in the community.

We practice home birth in Charivne.

Some families come here at warm season or at weekends.

We have some locals which take active part in eco-village social life.

We have formed a self consistent territorial community, which helps us to take an active part in saving forestland around eco-village and renew of village roads.

Most of eco-village people are vegetarians. One family is raw vegan. The others consciously try to minimize their volume of eating meat.

Community of family estates practice following activities:

- building the wood dome stoves;

- baking a home bread on a sourdough starter;

- beekeeping;

- preparing raw crisp breads, fruit and berries paste;

- gardening and fruit-growing;

- producing milk and cheese;

- visceral chiropractic;

- IT.

Our girls prepare handiworks and organize traditional Ukrainian holidays called Kolyada, Kupala, Maslyana with concerts, round dances and performances. They practice home schooling at eco-village.

On the territory of an old ex-club we organize performances during winter. We are planning to construct a new big common building that will give us possibility to organize a school for child and adults development, to accept guests, to hold common meetings and competitions.

We create eco-tourism projects. We play ping-pong and volleyball.

Eco-village is opened for visitors for scheduled events and excursions only by previous agreements.

We accept volunteers only on a base of previous agreement.

In eco-village we are vegetarians, do not use alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.

We are opened for new families, especially with children. From our new neighbors we expect humanity, goal orientation, active participation in eco-village life and keeping the nearest nature environment safe.
