Ecovillage Rosichi
Location: Mykhailivka settlement, Kaniv district, Cherkasy region, Ukraine. Distance from the village to the big cities: from Kanev - 20 km; from Cherkasy - 70 km; from Kiev - 150 km.

Settlement description:
Area. The majority of the settlers’ houses is located at the village outskirts (isolated farmsteads). An own farm area varies from 0.5 ha to 2 ha. The guests have an opportunity to stay at the locals, at free houses or the settlers’ houses if there is a free space.
History of evolving. Economic development of the area is among the ecovillagers’ priorities. At the days of the ecovillage foundation, its members purchased collective farm buildings abandoned at the Soviet age. The settlers renovated the buildings by their own efforts and at their own costs. Now it is an artel workshop there.
Another big project of the settlers was the construction of a new bridge over Ros river. Though it’s a walking bridge, it is vital for the village commuting.
In 2005, the settlers united into Rosychi community-based environmental organization, that aims to support and amplify environmental protection of the region and the country.
In 2015 Rosychi ecovillage made the first annual eco-festival ZemleTvorinnia to support grassroots movement of relocation from cities to the land.
Technologies. The members are always looking for the new opportunities, household and engineering solutions. Low-techs get the priority. It means everything is made of the materials at hand with minimum investments or of upcycled resources. The settlers are interested in the state-of-the-art eco-power, eco-construction, eco-farming, education, health and other aspects of life. They aim to bring into life available eco-technologies.
All settlers enjoy wireless internet service.
There is a gas pipeline to the village, but not all of its houses are connected to it, however. The majority of the settlers did not connect their houses to gas supply and have stove heating.
Culture. Sanctuary of everyone’s will on their self-evolution way, freedom of thought, conscience and religion, political leaning, etc. is the core principle of relationship between the settlers.
Every August, ZemleTvorinnia festival has already been being held for 5 years successively. It teaches people to live on the land happily, in harmony with nature and other people. The festival program is extensive as it includes diverse aspects: balanced life on the land, eco-construction, alternative energy, organic farming, permaculture, psychology and ethics of relationship, crafts, bodywork practices, healthy nutrition, conscious parenting, lessons for children, entrepreneurship, law, eco-goods fair, ring dances, folk singing and dancing, concerts and more.
Goods and services. A famous Ukrainian gardener, Volodymyr Vusyk presents his Forest Garden And Multiple Cropping educational seminars in the ecovillage several times a year. A choice of excursions to learn about environmental lifestyle and eco-technologies are available on request.
The produce of the ecovillage includes various vegetables and fruits, both fresh and pickled, dried fruits, herbal teas, spices, honey and honey products, dried mushrooms, goat milk and cheeses, confection, crispbreads, etc. The ecovillage craftswomen make handmade apparel, hats made of matted wool, tapestry, products from the vine, eco-bags and tote bags (within the framework of promotion ‘Stop Plastic Bag!’ in Ukraine), etc.

Visit or Join Us. You have to settle your visit with the ecovillagers beforehand. They can make time for visitors during the scheduled events and excursions. If your visit is likely to be spontaneous, you have to care for yourself on your own (spending the night, getting to know the area, victuals, etc.).
The community is open to new members. Those wishing to join are free to buy village houses available on the market.
