Settlement description:

The eco village of Semyhirya was founded in 2011 in a farmstead of the same name in Svitlovodsky district of Kirovohrad region. A beautiful name is no coincidence. Geographically, the farmstead is situated almost in the very center of the country, where its steppe East-Southern part meets the western woods. Prydniprovske plateau in this place near a big reservoir morphed into impressive shapes of the local landscape. Old woods, feather-grass steppes, deep gulleys and steep hills have been left untouched. The territory has recently been turned into Svitlovodsky regional landscape park occupying the total of  60320,00 hectares. The park officially started working in the beginning of 2018 to preserve and re-novate authentic local animals and plants. The eco village happened to be located in the park, allowing the settlers to join this important mission.

As for the autumn of 2018, the eco village is inhabited by 5 young families, each having over a hectare of their own land. The village lives according to the principles of freedom and autonomy of every family. Though every family have their own way of separating themselves from the technocratic society, all the villagers are united by the ideas of being friendly to environment, natural living and nutrition, and democratic harmonious relationships in the society.

At this stage, the eco village is also a place for green tourism in the landscape park. Every family wants to be an independent part of this project, bringing their ideas of healthy living and sustainable development to life in their own unique way.

In future, the settlement will offer a guest house, themed tours, and locally produced food. At the moment, you can come and chat with community members, but remember to bring your own tents, tools, and food or buy the necessary products at the village’s site.

Working with volunteers:
We welcome volunteers as representatives of the Svetlovodsk Regional Landscape Park to work on conservation projects. Also we will be glad to volunteers wishing to work in the territory of eco-settlement (we build a well-crane, a cellar from bags with the ground, etc.))
