Settlement description:

Zhiva Khata (Live House) is a shelter for good people, a space for live ideas.
A couple of famous performers of ethnic music from Verkhovyna village decided to
gather around them people who can share their experience with those who want to
learn.
Live House mission: to live consciously, uniting ancestors’ heritage with modern
achievements in human relations, communicating with nature and organizing living
space.
History: the heart of the project is a great grandfather’s old house on the boundary of
Verkhovyna village. The house, preserved to our days, was built in 1928. Our ancestors
at that time had skills to live self-sufficiently in the mountains: animal husbandry
(sheep, buffalos, cows), bee keeping, vegetable and fruit growing. The great grandfather
was a renown shoemaker and hunter. A slow speed of life was full of friendly
relations within family and friends. With years mountain dwellers were settling lower
and lower that led to decline and disappearance of numerous up mountain households.
For 20 years Live House had been waiting for its second breath that took place
in 2010. From that time everything was set alive by the voices of family members,
friends, interesting people, musical instruments.
